The Stagecraft Department Safety Committee after thorough research, discussion, and review has now compiled a set of guidelines for reopening live events and working safely in shops. The guidelines are in 2 formats:
As states, provinces and communities move individually to reopening and returning to work, it is essential that IATSE locals have consistent, science-based guidance on how
to ensure their members are returning to work under the safest possible conditions. This plan was developed through a review of various industry stakeholder guidance strategies, governmental agency advice, and the observations and recommendations of local union leaders in each of the crafts represented within the Stagecraft Department (Stage, Wardrobe, Makeup & Hair, Treasurers and Ticket Sellers, Ushers, etc.).
This information is designed as a service to IATSE Locals, their Members, and Employers and is intended only to provide general information on the subject covered and not as a comprehensive or exhaustive treatment of that subject, legal advice or a legal opinion. The aforementioned are advised to consult with legal counsel and other professionals with respect to the application of the subject covered to any specific production or other factual situation.
As information and research change regarding the COVID-19 virus while working in live entertainment, these guidelines will also be edited or updated as necessary.
The Broward Center has joined a growing national coalition to advocate for government support for live music venues across the country. We need your help to contact our elected officials and let them know this legislation matters to us.
All of the members of this coalition, including performing arts centers as well as artists across the country, are getting behind legislation that has been introduced in the U.S. Senate called the SAVE OUR STAGES ACT, which would offer financial relief to the live entertainment sector including our venues.
You can help us seek federal assistance by contacting your elected officials in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives to show your support for this legislation. Senator Marco Rubio chairs the Small Business Committee in the Senate and is a key player in advancing this issue. He needs to hear from all of us.
There's a quick and easy way to reach your elected officials in less than a minute at www.saveourstages.com. It’s simple to share our message, as the the letter is already pre-populated when you click the link.
In 2018, IATSE celebrated out 125th Anniversary. Since our founding in 1893, the strength and solidarity of our members has bettered the lives of workers throughout the entertainment industry.
